My 9 go-to marketing tools

Let's be honest. There are so many marketing tools out there that sometimes it's overwhelming to pick what to use, especially if you are new to the entrepreneurial world and like most of us, you are wearing all the hats. In these last two years of running my business, I've tried a bunch of tools. Some were perfect for my needs but others didn't make the cut.

Here I've put together a list of my top 9 tools for marketing. It's important to note that most of my marketing efforts are primarily through social media, BUT most of these tools can be used beyond that. I've included all the tools I use to create content, share it and track it.

Ready? Here it is!

Buffer:

Buffer is a social media scheduling tool. I've tried other tools (Later, Planoly, Hootsuite, and more) but Buffer checks all the boxes, in my experience. What I like about Buffer is that you can repurpose content easily and it allows me to use the platforms that I've considered as part of my content strategy. It's one of the few tools that allow you to schedule content for Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest.

Milanote:

Milanote is a note-taking and ideation tool. I use it to layout and plan my content for the week and even create my strategy for the month. What I love about Milanote is that it's a great tool for note-taking, ideation, planning and more. It's a very flexible tool.

Flodesk:

Flodesk is an email marketing platform. Although I need to do a better job at this, all of my email marketing efforts are done in Flodesk. I love it because no matter what I always pay the same price. Click here to get 50% off on your monthly membership (forever!).

webflow:

Webflow is my go-to website building. I use it to build websites, blogs and e-commerce stores for my clients and my business. I also use it whenever I need to create a marketing landing page. I've used pretty much every website + marketing landing page builder you can think of, and Webflow has always been at the top of the list. It's very easy to use and it integrates with pretty much all the platforms you can think of.

Google Analytics + Hotjar:

I use these two tools to track where people are coming from and how do they behave on my website and landing pages.

Adobe illustrator + figma:

I'm a designer so I use these two tools for pretty much every project I do. Both of them are vector based but the main difference is that Adobe Illustrator has more functionalities for illustrations while Figma is primarily to design interfaces, like website and apps. In terms of marketing content, I use Illustrator to design most if not all of the posts but I store them in Figma. I do this because Figma can be opened anywhere (it's a web-based tool). In Figma, you can also do basic photo editing. Figma is definitely my favourite tool. I even have a backlog of designs stored there in case I run out of ideas, BUT their illustration features are not as good as Adobe Illustrator. So... for now, I've decided to use both.

Canva:

If you are not a designer, I suggest using Canva instead of Illustrator or Figma. It's an amazing tool and super easy to use. I only use Canva whenever I have to insert a video in an image. I know this can be done in other Adobe tools but Canva makes it so easy that I love it!

a color story:

If I need to retouch a photo for an IG story, I use this app. It's so easy to use and it makes the photos look very pretty.

Filmora (mobile app + desktop):

I've always hated video editing. I did an undergrad in advertising so we had a couple of courses where we learned how to use Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere but for some reason, I don't like those programs. I started using the Filmora a year ago and I loved it. I then purchased the desktop app. For the basic things I need, it's very easy to use. I 100% recommend it.
